Custom motorcycles, hot rods, skate, art, music, movies, whatever...

I was reading a bike mag the other day when I came across an article about a green 79' "Flyrite" Shovelhead from Canada. The bike had been built from scratch, buying pieces from here and there and making others.I was reading this when I came to a section where he mentions that it Is a rumor that all green bikes are bad luck and sometimes called "widow makers".I remembered hearing this as a kid somewhere,I think it was an old war story, but had forgotten over time not ever having a green bike myself. I started thinking about my bike that at the time was not running.
A week before walking through Plymouth with a friend of my girlfriends and mine I came across a rabbits foot key chain,a green one at one of the touristy shops buy the waterfront.I had gotten it for my bike key so it wasn't by itself on the ring.Never keep your bike key by itself! This was something the hard way before.
Being late I went to bed but couldn't stop thinking about the coincidence all night.Ever since that thing was on there she hadn't started once.Since it was only a key chain and not the paint job I didn't think it was that weird.the next day I was up early and headed out to the garage to tinker on the trumpet to try and get her running again.after 5 hours out there with nothing happening I called a buddy of mine to see if I could use some odd ball tools he had.He showed up at the house a little while later and we got to work. After twenty minutes or so and a number of tests everything looked good enough to give her a few kicks.
I must have kicked her six or seven times with nothing happening then the oddest thing happens, the rabbits foot came loose from the clasp, fell from my key ring and on to the floor rolling off the work mat the bike is on.This part seems very strange to me but it is the truth, the bike came to life on the next kick.Roaring like she was brand new, with drag pipes.I was nice to hear that sound again. It had been a few weeks.I still have three months to wait to ride her, do to lying cops and crooked courts, but I like to go out and kick her over every other day or so till I can.
That night I burned that damn thing in the fire place and the bike has run better than ever ever since. WEIRD!!!
