More disappointment

Well how was I to know they expected zip together leathers have full length zips? The only ones I've ever seen are mine and they have an 8" zip!
My track day taster session was on my mind all day.
Went into work early and did a bit in the office then got on the bike just after nine and set off on a mini tour of London. Couldn't find Southgate, no signs from anywhere, finally tripped over it by accident, so that probably wasted a good half hour. No trouble getting to Portobello Road but try and find somewhere legal to park the bike, I don't think so! And why is Notting Hill populated entirely by cocks? Even more difficult to park in Piccadilly. Even if I had found somewhere legal I would have had to pay £1.50 to the rogues at Westminster Council, so I just shoved it on the pavement outside the shop.
Finally got home just before three, swopped my gortex jacket for my leather one and zipped it to my leather trousers/pants/jeans, what do you call the bottom half? Straight back out to meet Rob at the Oakdene Cafe. A nervous cup of tea together then back up to Brands Hatch.
As expected all the motorcycles there were sportsbikes, and my sporty looked well out of place, which of course it was. Most other riders thought it looked lovely but couldn't believe I intended to take it out on the circuit. We were on a taster, a proper track day was in progress and watching good handling modern bikes skillfully negotiating one of the best and most famous racetracks in the world was making me even more nervous. We filled in our forms then sat down for the safety briefing; "if you see a red flag the session is being prematurely ended, keep to the side of the circuit to let the ambulance by"; I now felt physically sick. Daylight was fading as we went back to the garages, donned helmets and gloves, and rode out into the pit lane for our sighting laps behind a marshall.
This is it, but no there are still more checks to be made. A marshall is working his way down the queue of bikes checking everyones helmets and leathers. I'm not worried 'cos I've borrowed an AGV lid with an ACU approved sticker and obviously there's nothing wrong with my leathers. Execpt there is. You've only got an 8" zip. Eh? You should have a full length zip. What? Sorry you can't go out. Your kidding. No, I'm sorry but without one piece or proper zip together two piece leathers you can't go on the circuit. But.... ? I've spoken to the control tower and they say no go.
So that was it. No chance to prove a Harley can out handle and perform Japans finest. They'll have to wait to discover Britains undiscovered racing talent. What a let down!
