17 november : just took the good decision : will work on it front this winter !!

29 april 2009

it's time to show my actual chopper Project !! and apologize for my bad english ....

in April 2008 i bought this handmade 1981 shovel bike :

in fact good looking far, but ....

as soon as bring it back at the shop I'll change some details to make it mine and repair some ...

I ride all summer long with, waiting for winter to began working on ....
on May, at the Euro-Festival in Grimaud (bay of st tropez) (HOG organisation) it was taken in pictures with a friend of mine & his sister (good looking too and not from far !!!!!) and surprise : photo was published on the HOG Tales automn 2008 !! LOL

november :
Time to the "biker Work"

first I decided to :
change the fork for a springer (the old one were linking oil, and impossible to repair it)
change the crancase (the old one was broken, and it costed less for me to buy a new one ...)
change the carb (original one) by a S&S
etc ...

I thougt i could keep the frame .....

impossible to align the gearbox and engine :-(

the handmade frame (by the previous owner) was really a bad work

so i decided to change it with a Santee one !
after some cutting job :

firts mount :

welding job :

and send to powercoating.

during this time, working on oil tank and feet control :

before :

after (but not finish) : BMX pegs !!

frame is back !! :

after some hours :

handlebar is not the good one, i'm actually shping & welding it ....

I gave the tanks to the painter, will get them back in the end of march ....... its a very long time ....

stay tuned, will keep you in touch here !!

a small picture (Dice magazine Spirit) from my garage !! (sorry there's some words in French)

back from holidays !! time to work !!

waiting for the painters bring me back somes parts, I worked on exhausts

test with the saddlebag (thanks to Robert : http://garageleathers.com/ ) :

the seat (before being colored) :

12 march : still waiting for the painting ... hope i get it in time at the end of the month.

seat finish is arrived :

I've finish to modified feet control (need some paintjob now) :

handle bar finished (home made) :

20 april :

15 days before, my painter just told me he couldn't do the job !!!!! ( 2 month he got the parts ...)

I just find a new one and gave him the parts with my drawings

today it's nearly finish, tomorrow i get them back

just have a look at thoses pictures, taken with a phone !!

24 april 2009 !!
after month : work is done !!!

Nice one Xavier! Watch out for that Crime Scene Chopper air cleaner - i fitted one and it just didn't get enough air in the carb for my engine. Are you using DNA springers - i have bought some for my new bike? Will you be taking it to St Tropez in May - if so i will see it then!
Regards

Salut Olivier! Great work man. The outcome of the frame is really clean. The whole bike has nice lines and a great stance. Hope to see it in person some day. ~Scott

Hi olivier, georgeous shovel !!! It's really a good job.
Today they have offered me a Shovel to buy it and I am with the doubt, with the crisis that we have in the sector.
I expected impatient more photos of the project.

Regards.
