Ok well for starters if all ya did was clean the carbs and the pipes are open pipes not stock exhaust you got some tuning to do. I would do some searching online for good info since I cant really explain im not familiar with the type of carbs on there. But here is what you should do first Sync your carbs...get a vacume gauge set or bench sync em. With out your carbs synced your pissing in the wind doing anything else trust me bro. Next set your air screws(once again your gonna have to get info on those carbs since im not familiar with em.) Air screws or air fuel mixture screws will adjust you air fuel ratio usually for your low end/idle if you have a manual it should describe how to do this if you dont have a manual you should get on ebay and get one. Keep in mind it may not be set to stock settings if your running different pipes and or air cleaner than stock. But a manual will tell ya how to do this and you can go from there with a little trial and error. After that I suggest trying to lower your needle in the carbs if they are adjustable this will cut down the amount of fuel and might solve the backfiring(It sounds like your running rich.) After you do this if it is still backfiring you wanna try jetting. Start by going down one size (less fuel) if it gets better but not good enough go to the next size. If it gets worse go the other way. But it should better asuming your running rich. MAKE SURE YOU TUNE YOUR CARBS AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE BEFORE JETTING SINCE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH OUT JETTING. This is a real tedious process and can take forever to get right so dont get frustrated. Hope that helps man!

My pipes never really gave me back firing problems but check for exhaust leaks somewhere if you've tried everything else.

Are you still using stock main jets?
