Will I be excommunicated? I've sold my 883R (lots of pics on my page), and I've bought a 48!

Good People/Bad People

Good PeopleMy son Ollie and his friend just got back from a charity bicycle ride from London to Paris. Between them they raised £4000 (about $6000) for our local Hospice charity. The ride was a proper organised event with support team and back up. Total amount raised for various charities, over £180,000 (approx $270,000). They all came back from Paris on the EuroStar train to St Pancras Station in London. The support team brought the bicycles back by road and ferry.Bad PeopleThe support crew…See More

More disappointment

Well how was I to know they expected zip together leathers have full length zips? The only ones I've ever seen are mine and they have an 8" zip!

My track day taster session was on my mind all day.

Went into work early and did a bit in the office then got on the bike just after nine and set off on a mini tour of London. Couldn't find Southgate, no signs from anywhere, finally tripped over it by accident, so that probably wasted a good half hour. No trouble getting to Portobello Road… Continue

Sportster - minor makeover and other shit

Posted on March 11, 2009 at 1:55pm 0 Comments

Not having the skills that some of you guys obviously possess the plans for my Sportster are relatively conservative. I often use the bike for work, riding around London, doing surveys, and braving the traffic and potholes. I also seem to ride in quite a, I don’t know, sporting style? It’s the only bike I have, so although I want it to be individual it still needs to be practical as everyday transport. A suspension upgrade is far more likely than solid struts or a rigid rear end. Basically I am… Continue

883 Iron

Posted on February 4, 2009 at 11:23am 1 Comment

It is my understanding that a bobber is a standard bike that has been chopped or bobbed. This means removinerg as much surplus weight as possible, ie mudguards, pillion seat etc from the standard bike.
A motorcycle built by a factory cannot, by definition be a bobber.
Neither can a manufacturer build a chopper, a streetfighter or a cafe racer. That's our job.
The nightster or 883 Iron may be a good starting point, but until we get to work on them they aren't bobbers!

Bikes in Bus Lanes

URGENT ACTION NEEDED - by YOU!

Apparently Transport for London are receiving very few comments from motorcyclists about the new London-wide TfL trial of motorcycles in red-route bus lanes.

The latest news is that as part of the evaluation of the scheme 'users views' will be taken into account and 'numbers responding' will play a part in this.

Clearly none of us want to see a situation where 5,000 cyclists have protested and 200 motorcyclists support. It's this… Continue

Hey brother, I feel your pain about the weather. I live in Montana, and while the spring and summer are usually pretty nice, the winter sucks. Even now in almost mid-April, it's rainy/snowy and about 40 degrees F average. It's the shits, but it does give down-time to work on shit, but even at that, I get twice as much done in good weather...it's just easier. I'd HAVE to have 2 bikes if I lived in SoCal or the southwest...one to work on and one always running!! Take care man...hear from you soon.

I'm Tim, I live in the village of Farningham in Kent, about 40 minutes outside London, the capital of the world.
Married with two grown up kids a cat and a dog.
My first bike was a Vellocette when I was around thirteen years old, 35 years ago!
I currently ride a 2005 XL883R Sportster. Converted it to 1200 with Wiseco 10.5:1 pistons when the warranty ran out. Have plans for a minor makeover which should be complete by the spring. Although I love the look of my stock bike, I hate to see anyone else riding the same!
I'm a keen member of HOG although I get a bit pissed off by the HD/one make partisan attitude as I can appreciate any cool bike, whatever it's origins.
