Where have all the top trees gone???

Ok, is it just in northeast Ohio, or does this problem plague the rest of the country? Every swap meet I go to I find a kick ass springer from the 70's and it's missing the top tree!!! And they are always something other than the standard paugho springer. You know you will never find the top tree just laying around in the $5.00 bin.
