This is my FLH. She's dropped as low as I can go with dummy shocks. I got 2600 miles on rebuild of motor and trans.

you say : S&S oil pump ,which is shagged itsbeen dumping the contents of the oil pump into the sump for years..

Have you tried to take out the spring and but a pin of some sort down, and give the new ball a small "wack".. this so it sets better in its "seat"... or maybe a bigger "wack"..?

Hi Dan ,this is my 74 shovel ,i have owned it for the past 20 years ,i do allof my own biulding and chopping ,although the laws in Australia are very tight when it comes to customizing,Well i have been through 3 big rebuilds and i will never finish,The motor is still a 74 ,30 thou, oversize flattop pistons, stock  conrods and crank, manley valveand pushrods, solid lifters, has a electronic ignition(but i have a very old magnetto dont know made it but it has a realy cool finned base), 3 inch Primo open belt , S&S  carby ,S&S oil pump ,which is shagged itsbeen dumping the contents of the oil pump into the sump for years ,to many rebiulds ,ive even replaced the spring and ball twice, any way i have just replaced the fatbob tank with a sporty tank and  rewired the bike (again) ,has a 3 degree rake 2" upside down front end (want to replace  it with a springer soon ),rear shockies are for show only i have pulled them to peices and welded them at 10" and re mounted (i want a pappa clutch bolt on arse end same as the front end sooooon),drag pipes ,original 4 speed box,and 18" ape hangers with 4"risers,forward controls, and its a fucking blast to ride ,im 53 years old been riding choppers since i was 16 ,and my wife shakes her head at me and laughts every day when i fire it up and ride to work Cheers
