Good to see others into the Kz! My first bike/chopper I built was a 650..then did a 750. No longer ride'm but I have rebuilt a couple, so any questions hit me up.

I switched out my petcock and now when I its running I twist the throttle and it boggs down. When I let off the throttle it will come back to idle. I'm getting good fuel and spark. So needless to say now even more lost than I was. Ideas?

hey dave, to tell you the truth there's no real trick to fixin em...some people will put a sort of glue on them that wont be effected by gas, but it's usually not a permanent fix and can sometimes just lead to more problems, with the glue breaking down and cloggin up the carbs. Usually the only real fix is to pick up a new diaphragm, BUT, if its runnin alright the way it is...I'd keep runnin it that way, til and if it actually gets bad. Though with a new diaphragm you may notice a difference in pick up.

You say its runnin lean on that side, as long as the plug isn't real white, it should be alright!

Tunz I have one carb with a slightly torn diaphragm. It's torn right at the top almost to the outer ring, is there any tricks to fixing that? When I got the carbs I cleaned them. Found this problem when I noticed a small amount of glue or something on the diaphragm. I peeled of the "substance" and ran em. The bike runs pretty good but seems to run just a little bit leaner on that side.

Thanks for the info but I think I found the problem. It's in my tank some how it looks like water got in the tank and started some rust. It started to block the petcock valve and now i'm not getting any fuel. So I'm going to have the tank cleaned and relined. That should fix it... In theory.

the mixture screw is a bit sneaky in apearance...just looks like an inset flat head screw. prob on the side of the carb. if the engine is running and u turn it all the way in the bike will start to stall. U want to get it where it sounds best and then drive er a bit...when u get back check the plugs...if they r white-ish its runnin too hot if they r real dark and a bit wet its runnin too rich...

not sure if this is your problem, but very well could be.

check ur diaphragms in under the top cover of your carbs for any tears or anything also. I've had a few old kawi's that had torn diaphragms

anyways - hope this helps man

I didn't see any mixture screws on the carbs. The only one I see is for the idle

dumptruck...have u tried messin with the mixture screws? I'm not exactly sure where they r located on the 750 but, if u do a bit of research and find out their location, good place to start is to turn them all the way in with the engine running and then slowly turn em out...

also, how r the diaphragms?

Fuel/float level can be a factor also...one can be off by the smallest degree and throw things out of wack.

I've seen a couple of these old bikes that only like certain spark plugs also...in the earlier models "they" say not to use the plugs with the resistor in em and to use for example a BP8ES instead of BPR8ES

I hope this helps you a bit...you prob already knew most of that shit anyway

cheers
