I couldn't say 100% since I have never worked on Yamaha. But for the most part coils and wires are quite universal. Some coils on Honda for example had the plug wire as part of the coil. But for the most part a coil of the proper ohm rating is fine. Same with wires. I would think 3-5 ohm coil would be fine. Have you checked the manual for coil rating ? Also as far a checking. You might want to check for a more active group than M.U.. There are other groups and the main board forum. There is also chop cult. I am more active over there.
Comment by E Paternoster on May 26, 2012 at 9:25pm hello, been riding for but new to wrenching and building and metric bikes , a lot of older bikes are a bitch to find parts for .1983 yamaha xv 750 ignition coils are imposible to get . plug wires 250 bucks at yamaha dealer but bought some universal plug wires at advaced in lawn mower section . works fine . has any one ever used the emgo ignition coils or any other after markets, and if so hows that working out for you ? thanks
