I need to put a speedo on 01 sporty with a springer front end and brakes. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this relatively cheap?

Nothing very cheep, you can rig a drive off the rear wheel so you can use a small chopper speedo, other wise, if you use the trans unit, you have to use Dakota ditigdle, they have a interface box that you can hide and a small speedo/tack thats a little biger than a bullit lite, Ive put many on choppers, not cheep, but nice...Roach.
I think the 01 sporty engine has a electronic speedo output on the tranny, My 99 does. One wire is the neutral switch and one is speedo, green I think.
I think it will work with the cheepo drag specialties or similar ones

Get a early style wheel drive unit and a matching cable, install on front or rear, but get the right size tire style.  Some wheels don't have the notch for the drive, but that is a easy fix.  Look the drive units and cables in any aftermarket book, then get a speedo to match.  Or just go slow.

this speedo looks great and is cheap...works with any electronic sensor....on wheel or trans.... speedo is only 48mm in diameter.
