road trip to the Normandy D Day beaches. awesome.

if you can get there by any means , do it!, an awesome place, a beautiful part of France,

 A sad place when you look at one field full of 9000 graves of American troops who sadly fell there.

A place where 90 British Paratroopers landed 50 yards from a heavily defended bridge and stormed it within 5 minutes.

 A place where a crazy Scotish piper marched up a beach under heavy German fire,playing his bagpipes whilst Royal Marine Commandos raged a pitch battle. 

A place of extreme bravery.

 A place where young men some only 17 /18 year old gave there very all. 

A place where you wonder what the defending Germans must have thought on that misty morning when they first looked out over the English Channel and saw the invading enemy...... ALL of them!

A place to go and not to forget!

Well worth going fellas,  We left Newcastle in the North East of England and set of on the 360mile trip to Portsmaouth to catch the overnight boat into France. We got in at 7 the next morning then just worked our way along the landing beaches, Sword, Gold, Juno ,Omaha, and Utah. Stopping each night at little hotels and getting rather pissed on cheap French wine.Nothing was planned , we stopped when we felt like it and stayed where ever we could,

All the bikes ran well and no dramas, WELL ..... apart from extreme drinking , dancing tree climbing, police ivading, drunken frolics whilst living like tramps . But damm good fun.
