nothing against the winner of the Cafe category-it is a nice bike BUT...

almost every other bike in the contest is more of a "cafe" bike than the winner.

why not just call it a Harley contest and be done with it?

Triton is "king class" of the cafe racer and should win this contest!

i agree with Nomad and honda 2nd place but all bikes superb well done guys a difficult choice and not one i would like to make

I fully agree with Keith Montgomery , only on a site called "CHOPPERtown Nation" the emphasis is more on a chopper-bobber-theme than on Caferacer-style. That goes for the jury as well, I suppose. Though the FXD is a true masterpiece in my opinion, it definitely is not a caferacer. But the BSA isn't either, seen by my standards.

But what's in a name? Personally, I think my bike definitely is caferacer-influenced , but with a 'modern' Triumph engine I don't know if it should be called a caferacer. But I don't give a damn about that! I'm proud of the way my bike turned out to be and so should every garage-builder be. We all are our own personal winners, I guess.

The only real-deal caferacer (period correct I mean) is the Triton and ok, maybe the Honda.

But, who am I to judge??

the problem starts when you are trying to categorize garage-builder bikes. While building the BSA, I wanted to create something influenced by Cafe Racers, Board Trackers and I am very happy with the outcome. While participating in the contest, I did choose the Cafe Racer Category as it was the one matching my bike best (compared to Bobber or Chopper), knowing that my BSA is not a typical Cafe Racer. I fully agree with Rens and Keith: the Triton is the only pure Cafe Racer.

Nevertheless I am happy, that I am not the only one that likes my BSA...and the Category is of minor importance.

Just what Carsten said, sometime it is difficult to categorize a bike. With the Triton it was easy, but with my shovel it was a lot more difficult, there was no category like Chop Rod or someting like that. Somebody else said "We are all winners" and I agree.

The most important thing is that everybody shows its own masterpeace made by his own hands and vision with simple tools. And on the otherside there is no discussion because the jury has spoken!

 

My Triton isn't period correct eather. It has italian rims and frontbrake and no leather seat, but I make it the way I liked it!

 

Thats just what I like about garage build, everybody can make what he likes

Just wanted to say really delighted to win the cafe racer category with my FXD Caesar Racer - as a Brit I fully recognise that this bike is not a true old style cafe racer - but when I built it those were the influences I wanted to bring to bear, and the bike works well nonetheless; and believe it or not really goes and handles.  My next cafe racer inspired bike is based upon a BMW R80, so lets see how that does next year.  Once again much appreciated Choppertown and congrats to everyone else who won.
