Choppertown Nation - Online Community for Backyard Builders

Custom motorcycles, hot rods, skate, art, music, movies, whatever...

So i got my bike back together after my blown base gasket issue. I got it started and everything sounds good and it runs great but it leaks like crazy from the rocker box cover, and also out of the push rod tube. But only one and only the front cylinder.

I checked the crank case breather and it seems to be working fine, a lot of air coming out. I torqued the rocker box covers to the specs in the book and checked the oring on the push rod tubes, and it looks all good.
So Common sense would say its something in the rocker box on the front cylinder.

This is my first motor build, well half build. what should i look for when i open that rocker box cover tonight?

Pull the rocker cover off and lay it on a flat surface to check for flatness, make sure the holes are not dimpled from being over tourqed in the past. Once you are sure that the cover surface perfectly flat use a new gasket and apply a small amount of "3M Weatherstrip adhesive" to the side that goes on the head, lay the gasket in place use some bolts to line it up until dry then install the cover and finger tight all bolts then torque to 25 in lbs in a criss cross pattern then repete torque to 50 in lbs in criss cross pattern. after you put some miles on it go back and re snug bolts because the gaskets will shrink..

Pull the push rod tube out completly and make sure there is no derbris in the sealing area.
Bassgasket? Did you get the return oil hole in the right spot?????
NOPE!!!!!!!!!! IM SUCH A FUCKING RETARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job Brock!
Well let us know what it was when ya find out and good luck...Roach.
took the front cylinder apart and sure enough had the fucking gasket up side down, blocking the hole, waiting on new gaskets should be up and running in no time.
