Choppertown Nation - Online Community for Backyard Builders

Custom motorcycles, hot rods, skate, art, music, movies, whatever...

Well a little b4 xmas I must have been a little buzzed cause I came up with a semi retarted Idea to turn my FXST into a trike using the swingarm and axle off of a quad then I went home and got on ebay, found a swingarm, axle off of a Yamaha Raptor 700 and bought em.
I didn't give a lot of thought about the lack of a differential for use on the street but I think I can pull it off for pretty cheap$ and if it sucks to ride I'll just unbolt it all and go back to 2 wheels.
I still need a carrier bearing assembly but I think I will start on it in the nxt week or two.

Pic's soon to follow!

sounds cool. Looking forward to seein some pics.
Hey Eric, I was intrigued by this when you first mentioned it a few weeks back, why a trike? I never really liked 'em, thought they were fine for my disabled friends, but I've been getting a little "tri-curious" myself lately. It's probably an age thing, haha!
What sort of gearing will that back end give you?
You have to know that I am down to give you a hand with that SOB any day of the week!
If you want, I have a gearbox here that is normally used to convert a chain drive bike to a shaft, That would allow you to use a small car rear end if you prefered. Its a thought.
Hey I appreciate that, I am interested....any pic's more info?
